After FIFA EA split, the game’s new name is EA FC 2023. After this year’s FIFA 23, the FIFA series will be renamed EA Sports FC, representing the final turn in a 20-year relationship with football’s governing body.

The next and last FIFA will have “more features, game modes, World Cup content, clubs, leagues, competitions, and players than any prior edition of the game,” Weber says. The EA Sports FC name is the first time it’s been officially announced, following EAs previous statements about considering a change of name. FIFA has been attempting to charge EA $1 billion every four years to use the name since 2013 according to previous reports.

The only value the FIFA name has for Electronic Arts outside of a World Cup year, according to CEO Andrew Wilson, is “the four letters on the front of the box.” He added that he would argue – and this may be a little biased – that the FIFA brand has more meaning as a video game than it does as a soccer governing body.
