A person has been despatched to jail over failure to supply the suspect he stood for as surety.
Mr. Gajah Omayulele Pretty was arraigned earlier than Justice G. O. Imadegbelo of the Edo State Excessive Courtroom sitting in Benin Metropolis on Tuesday, February 23.
In response to the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee, EFCC, Mr.Pretty was arraigned on a two rely cost of conspiracy to pervert justice and failure to supply a suspect (Richman Pere) for whom he stood as surety.
One of many counts reads: “that you just Gajah Omayulele Pretty on or concerning the ninth January 2021 while standing as surety to a suspect, one Richman Pere (at massive) aided and abated his escape by refusing to supply him for arraignment earlier than the Federal Excessive Courtroom, Benin..and failing to cooperate with the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee in bringing him to custody and thereby dedicated an offence”.
The defendant pleaded ‘not responsible’ to the cost, prompting the prosecution counsel, Ibrahim Mohammed to ask the courtroom for a trial date and to remand the defendant in jail custody.
Justice Imadegbelo ordered that the defendant be remanded on the Correctional Centre and adjourned until March 17 for trial.
