Normalcy has returned to Port Harcourt Worldwide Airport, Omagwa in Rivers State after members of Freight Forwarders Transport Affiliation (FFTA) Saturday barricaded the street for a number of hours.
The barricade on the airport has been eliminated whereas there’s now a free circulation of visitors on the Port Harcourt-Owerri street.
Members of the Affiliation had blocked the street with their trailer vehicles in protest towards an assault on one among their members by safety operatives at a checkpoint across the airport junction.
The incident befell Friday night time after an argument broke out between a safety agent and the motive force.
It took the intervention of the Ikwerre native authorities Chairman, Samuel Nwanosike on behalf of members of the Affiliation to open the roads.
Talking with our correspondent, the Chairman of FFTA, Idris Ali who lamented the continued harassment of members by safety operatives stated the member who was attacked by the safety brokers have been taken to the hospital and is responding to therapy.
