Spotify released its top ten Nigerian cities for music streaming from July to September 2021, with Lagos topping the list, and 8 Nigerian cities from the south.
The list was disclosed in a statement by Spotify’s Head of Communications and Public Relations, Sub-Saharan Africa Michelle Atagana.
The music boss said that the top ten states and cities for streaming music include Lagos – Lagos, Niger, Abuja, Rivers, Edo, Enugu, Anambra, Kano, Oyo, and Imo
According to her quote ”There is no doubt that Nigeria is a country that loves music; whether it’s a local or international sound, Nigerians will always find a way to vibe to it once it catches on.
”In celebration of Nigeria Month, Spotify shares data on the top 10 music cities in Nigeria, along with other interesting insights,”
Spotify also released the top 3 songs for each of the cities which are:
- Lagos – Gbese by Positivv, Yung Felix Understand by Omah Lay, Peru by Fireboy DML.
- Niger State – Understand by Omah Lay, Feeling by Buju, LADIPOE, Peru by Fireboy DML.
- Abuja – Mojo by Brondy16, Ting by Brondy16, Understand by Omah Lay.
Other data showed some of the most popular music artists in Nigeria include Wizkid, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, Tems, and Rema
Michelle said the data shows that Nigerians are tangibly displaying their love for their nation, with local artists leading the charge in listening trends.
